Alabama is a state in the southern United States home to many important sites from the American Civil Rights Movement. In the 1960s, the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, which is now a museum, served as a protest center for the city's civil rights movement. It is possible to visit Martin Luther King, Jr.'s church and the Rosa Parks Museum, which are both devoted to the civil rights leader, in the state capital of Montgomery.
